Ethical SEO

Ok, so now that I've briefly explained what SEO or "Search Engine Optimization" is, I can go on to answer what I believe "ethical SEO" means.

There are many ways that SEO is done by agencies--and many of those ways are unethical...

1. Large SEO companies sometimes will create a landing page for you. Then they will offer an SEO package. They offer the same 3 options to all of their clients. (This makes no sense, I'll explain SEO pricing at a later post.) First of all, if THEY handle your landing page or "simple website" that they've created and plan to optimize this means that as soon as you discontinue your "SEO package", you no longer retain any of the optimization you've paid for. This locks you in to paying them FOREVER---even if the SEO you've already paid for is strong enough as it is to outrank your competition. This is also a problem because if you have a nice looking, high quality or custom designed site (which we also offer--fyi), then you can't really show it off, now can you?! In my opinion, you would be better off utilizing this kind of money ($300-$700 monthly) towards permanent SEO efforts that strengthen the popularity of your kick-ass website. Or if you're looking for immediate results, consider a PPC or Pay Per Click campaign.

2. Other unethical SEO strategies also include any type of blacklisted tactics such as gaining thousands of backlinks from one source---this isn't going to outrank the competition in the long run! Google is always changing and improving their algorithms.

I guess my next post can just explain what blacklisted tactics are and why they need to be avoided. For now.. I'm off. Make sure your SEO is ethical!
